Dehydrator or Herb.ERT®
At the beginning of the development of Herb.ERT® stood the trivial question: "If you want to dry herbs / plants - why use hot air?"
Dehydrators are quite justified in fruit / vegetable drying, if short drying times are necessary.
Temperatures used in dehydration do not occur in the vegetation. The properties of the plants are sometimes massively changed by the unnatural temperatures, flavor and color undergo significant losses. Vitamins are destroyed by hot air.
Depending on the drying temperature, more than 70% of the ingredients can be lost!
If the aim is to preserve vitamins, flavors, tastes and valuable ingredients, experts recommend the use of the Herb.ERT® water extraction system.
What is meant by "drying shock"?
An abrupt dehydration closes the plant capillaries to prevent them from drying out. The drying stops, the plants are dry on the outside, but remain in the core still moist. Rot after packaging and mold can be the unpleasant consequences.
In the Herb.ERT® the moisture reduction is modulating - thus a drying shock is 100% excluded. The material dries evenly and completely! Overdrying is virtually impossible because no heat is applied.
The gentle water extraction keeps the stomata relaxed.
The cycle control also ensures that the dry goods are always provided with the most perfect climate conditions.
The drying time in the Herb.ERT® drying oven
Drying time depends on plant species / water content / drying with or without stems / slice cut on fruit and vegetables. For most applications, the drying time is 8 to 24 hours. For products with high water content correspondingly longer.
